On 7th June 2018, the WestWorks studio hosted the ‘West London Futures Conference’ in partnership with West London Business. The aim of the forum was to make the borough the ‘best for business’ in the UK and to drive forward the region’s global economic competitiveness, whilst pursuing social and environmental sustainability. In celebration of White City Place, Stephen Cowan, Leader of the Hammersmith and Fulham Council, gave the closing note, stating that “the Stanhope, Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo investment into White City is extremely impressive”.

The conference was well attended, bringing together 80 professional from the top 500 companies in West London, including Jason Dunlop, COO, EMEA, Starbucks, Will Butler-Adams, CEO, Brompton Bicycles, Chris Maw, Senior Partner, PwC and James Ferguson, Partner, Deloitte.

The landmark summit focused on how to build consensus on private sector investment through three key determinants of future growth in West London, talent, housing and intelligent mobility. Lively discussion throughout the conference focused on ways to strengthen education-business partnerships and apprenticeships that deliver young people that are ready for work, how the private sector could do more to address the housing crisis and ways to ensure that West London is in the vanguard of deploying smart methods of utilising ‘Mobility as a Service’.

Breakfast was provided by local café and caterer Butterscotch Bakery giving the audience the opportunity to network amongst one another and continue discussions further. Food included, pastries, egg, smashed avocado and smoked salmon pots and a porridge station with a range of toppings from peanut butter and cacao nibs to fresh berries, jam, almonds and honey.
