This week, White City Place welcomed local charity Funpact for a ‘Transition to Secondary School’ workshop. The event focused on easing the move into Year 7 for 11-year-olds and their parents or carers.
Attendees discussed key topics like such as mobile phone use, considering both the benefits and potential risks of smartphones. They also explored independent travel, learning tips for staying safe on foot, buses, and the tube.
The youth participants expressed their personalities by crafting self-portraits that highlighted their interests, later comparing them to the ones their parents made. Finally, everyone got involved in making "friendship pizzas," choosing seven key ingredients that represent what’s important in forming new friendships.
The workshop offered families a supportive and interactive environment to navigate the challenges of this important transition, creating a firm foundation for further conversations at home.
