White City Place was delighted to host Active Successful Engagement CIC’s NHS Champions of Mental Health event in October.
Coinciding with Black History Month, the evening brought together community members, local leaders, health officials, and advocates for improved mental health in Black communities in Hammersmith & Fulham. Attendees came together under a unite single mission to improve mental health outcomes within the Black community.
Key highlights of the evening included the launch of the Black Health Panel, a new advisory body focused on elevating Black health concerns, and a conversation with local leader Debbie Best, who shared her vision for comprehensive mental health support for Black individuals.
Attendees had the opportunity to engage in discussions on how the Black Health Panel could best serve the community, focusing on cultural awareness and collaboration. New funding opportunities were also announced, including the Young Black Therapy Fund and the Get Moving Fund, aimed at breaking down barriers and enhancing community wellbeing.
The evening concluded with a speech from NHS Associate Director, June Farquharson, highlighted the tremendous work that had taken place and reminding attendees of the power of collective work to improve the health and wellbeing of the community.
