Environmental and social impact has always been a foremost consideration underpinning everything we do at White City Place.
On Wednesday, members of the White City Place team and business occupiers came together for the second instalment of our bi-annual Occupier Sustainability forum, which serves as an opportunity for attendees to come together and reflect on the progress of current sustainability initiatives and to share plans for exciting new initiatives we can expect to see taking shape over the coming months.
Our waste management team had plenty of good news to share about the continuation of waste segregation initiatives introduced in 2023 that saw increased efficiency in multi-waste disposal. We learnt that an impressive 9,013kg of waste recycling has been salvaged from general waste bins so far in 2024, with zero waste being sent to landfill, a statistic to be truly proud of. We have two new initiatives set to tackle overconsumption in the form of a clothing recycling bank provided by White Rose, with the equivalent of £628 being raised for AEGIS so far, and a dry foods collection point to support the good work of Kensington and Chelsea food bank.
Meanwhile, our landscaping teams have been working tirelessly to continue previous initiatives promoting biodiversity in our green spaces, and talked us through several new projects designed to create habitats and promote the presence of flora and fauna. Hearing that 2024 has seen a 31% increase in biodiversity was a really encouraging statistic.
Once again, the Occupier Sustainability forum has provided a fantastic opportunity for White City Place team members and occupiers to come together to reflect and celebrate our continued efforts towards a more sustainable White City Place for all, and we look forward to reconvening next time to hear about the progress of our latest initiatives.
